‘I am your bitch’ time

Some call it ‘one on one’ meetings with your boss, I call it “I am your bitch” time.

Each week I have dedicated scheduled time with EVERYONE in my team. This is in addition to other meetings and catch ups, but this time is a special time I actually look forward to.

It’s a chance where I get to roll my sleeves up and get down and dirty if required because I am here to serve my team, not the reverse.

As an entrepreneur by nature, I like to fix things and solve problems, but I also like helping and mentoring others to be better in all aspects of their life. So where there’s a problem or obstacle, I naturally try and solve and resolve.

‘I am your bitch’ time now has a life of its own. I literally am their bitch.

What can I do to help? You decide. If it’s legal and moral, Ill do it.

“You want me to make you a coffee, a neck massage (no one’s accepted that yet but the offer has been made), change a light bulb in your office, you decide. I am yours”

“Alternatively you may want me to talk about anything that’s on your mind, anything that’s in the way of you feeling fresh and focused, help reviewing your goals or scheduling in more exercise”

Is that the best use of our time? That’s not up to me.

“Maybe you want me to contact that client of yours that’s not returning your calls, or draft an email to ensure you get a response and find out what’s really going on, or make a cold call for you to someone you’ve love to approach but can’t get hold off. Can I open some doors for you?” What specific skills or training would you like? My network is here to help you, so why not tap into mine?”

My instructions:

“Come ready, come prepared as you’ve had a week to prepare, be on time. Remember, I am committed to your success so make the most of me. Even better, I am FREE and I do have a great deal of experience and knowledge to share!”

Now this is not a spoon feeding exercise. This is an enhancement session to grow further, open new doors, solve problems, expand new thinking and overcome any obstacles in the way and in the process some great training is occurring. It’s amazing where people get stuck and there’s generally a simple solution. One of my strengths is the ability to simplify things and find out why something is going on.

‘I am your bitch’ time might sound like a parent willing to do anything for their children, which does remind me of when my Dad had to come onto my school bus when I was 6 and blast an older kid (without my consent) for charging me 10x the market price for a piece of American bubblegum, which I’m still embarrassed about today. Thanks Dad.

So do you want a hand’s off type of leader or a hands on type of leader who is willing to do ANYTHING for their team? How would you rate your current manager or leader?

You’re probably wondering, “So Jono, have you had any weird requests you’d like to share?” My answer would be: “Nothing too outrageous just yet, but we have achieved some tremendous outcomes. Many do seem to walk in posing with a sore neck or loving a foot rub though!”

On a side note: In searching for an image to represent this post, most images come up with “I’m NOT your bitch’ rather than “I am your bitch”. Being a bit unique is a nice place to be.
